A good skirmish can give you a great advantage, as your lines will have an easier time fighting a damaged enemy unit. Light Infantry is generally placed in front of your line infantry, and is used to harass your enemy from a long range before they get close to your main army. These troops have longer range than line infantry, are generally cheaper, and more accurate at firing. Light infantry are one of the most important units in the game, and a well rounded army will always have at least 3 units present on the battlefield at minimum.
